Regardless of the Russian full-scale invasion that started on February 24, 2022, the IT sector has never stopped developing in Ukraine. Entrepreneurs, tech companies, and various initiatives have gathered their forces to keep this area and provide the Ukrainian nation with the best IT education. Sergey Tokarev, the founder of SET University and Roosh tech company, talked about new opportunities to acquire good IT education.
What is SET University?
SET University is a non-profitable educational institution with the objective to grow future IT leaders. Every student can learn the basic knowledge of technology and entrepreneurship and receive practical workshops on implementing their knowledge. The university collaborates with the best educational institution in the world. The institution’s staff is focused on making IT education accessible to every Ukrainian.
SET University scholarships
SET University has opened five scholarships for students in two Master’s programs: Cyber Defense and Computer Science and Innovation Engineering. According toSergey Tokarev, these scholarships will cover 70% to 90% of tuition fees. The participants can apply for it till September 1, 2023.
Students will receive a great opportunity to dive into artificial intelligence, cyber defense, and blockchain technologies. Some modules will include the processes of tech project management.
The entrepreneurial programs have been created by a joint of SET University and the UC Berkeley Fisher Center for Business Analytics at the University of California, Berkeley. At the end of the study, students will defend their theses that involve creating a startup in a university accelerator or coming up with an IT solution for a tech company.
Who can apply for scholarships?
The SET scholarship initiative is aimed to provide Ukrainian men and women with the opportunity to obtain an IT education. Sergey Tokarev lists the potential participants: Ukrainian women who want to develop in IT, internally displaced persons who have left temporarily occupied territories or war zones, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine, and children of combatants.
Other recent university courses
In order to support Ukrainian women in developing and growing in IT, Sergey Tokarevemphasizes the free course ‘Leading with Confidence in the AI World.’ This is a three-day event in business analytics that will be held offline in Kyiv on August 30.
The training is also created together with the UC Berkeley Fisher Center for Business Analytics at the University of California, Berkeley. A special guest is invited to conduct workshops on the course, Gauthier Vasseur, a director and professor at the UC Berkeley Fisher Center for Business Analytics.
Female founders of economics or charitable projects, women citizens with IDP status, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard’s representatives can apply for the workshop till August 18.
Sergey Tokarev believes that such a strong joint of initiatives and entrepreneurs can invest much in Ukrainian IT education. It regards long-term innovation and entrepreneurship programs and funding grants to make quality education more accessible to Ukrainians.
